After flying high against the Hylton Bulldogs on Tuesday, the Freedom Eagles came back down to earth. Freedom took a 49-35 bruising from Gainesville on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Freedom in their matchups with Gainesville: they've now lost four in a row.
Madison McKenzie was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with four steals for Gainesville. McKenzie is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Peyton White was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Gainesville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
Freedom won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Patriot at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Patriot focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Wednesday. As for Gainesville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Unity Reed at 7:00 p.m. Unity Reed comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
