Football Recap: Cate Sets Scoring Season-High Against Orcutt Academy

Cate scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 54-48 to the Orcutt Academy Spartans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (40), the Rams still had to take the loss.

Ezekiel Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Orcutt Academy, rushing for 434 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 14.5 yards per carry. Johnson showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Fadi Alkhouri, who rushed for 88 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Cate's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Orcutt Academy, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cate will welcome Faith Baptist at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Contenders' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Rams' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Orcutt Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Flintridge Prep at 1:00 p.m. on the 11th.
