The Mountain View Bruins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Newberg at home by a decisive 46-28 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mountain View has scored all season.
Mountain View's loss came despite strong showings from Jaycee Carlson and Lia Suguturaga. Carlson scored 11 points along with three steals, while Suguturaga scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Carlson scored a full 39.3% of Mountain View's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kimberlee Brown was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four steals.
Mountain View's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Newberg, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Mountain View will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Uintah at 5:15 p.m. on January 9th. Newberg and Cornerstone Christian will face off at 12:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cornerstone Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.5 points per game.
