Baseball Recap: Kirbyville Starts Season with Victory Against Hemphill

Kirbyville had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Hemphill Hornets by a score of 8-4. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

David Fussell and Luke Fussell were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Fussell tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Luke didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. At bat, Fussell scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Luke scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ryan Coleman was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Max Myers, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Kirbyville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 6-5 victory against Centerville on the 20th. As for Hemphill, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-8 win against Woodville on the 20th.
