Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact the Cedaredge Bruins proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 29-22 win over Gunnison. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cedaredge.
Cedaredge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Hanson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Hanson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Carley Malinowski was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Gunnison had strong showings from Kylee McDougal, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Sienna Gomez, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. McDougal is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Vincent, who scored two points along with five rebounds.
Cedaredge has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Gunnison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.
Cedaredge will head out on the road to take on Grand Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Grand Valley will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Cedaredge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gunnison, they will head out on the road to square off against Meeker at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Gunnison is facing Meeker at the right time seeing as Meeker is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
