Avenal is on a three-game streak of home losses, Dos Palos an eight-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Avenal Buccaneers will take on the Dos Palos Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avenal has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Avenal came up short against Mendota and fell 52-40. Avenal has struggled against Mendota recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Dos Palos suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 74-27 loss at the hands of Coalinga. Dos Palos was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-12.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jacquez Jones, who scored nine points. JT Gomez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Avenal has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Dos Palos, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.
Avenal was able to grind out a solid win over Dos Palos in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 57-46. Does Avenal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dos Palos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
