The St. Petersburg Green Devils were the 36-30 winner over the Hollins Royals when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. St. Petersburg took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Petersburg has scored all season.
Hollins' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Summer Morgan, who scored 11 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Cecilia Tith was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
St. Petersburg has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Hollins, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-16.
St. Petersburg is on the road again on Monday and plays the Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Southeast is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Hollins, they will head out on the road to face off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
