Basketball Recap: Vestaburg Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jaiden Anderson and Lily Johnston

Vestaburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Breckenridge Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while the Huskies are ranked 209th).

Vestaburg's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lily Johnston, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, and Jaiden Anderson, who posted ten points and five rebounds. That's the most rebounds Johnston has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Stouten, who put up seven points and eight rebounds.

Vestaburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Breckenridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vestaburg will venture away from home to challenge St. Charles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Charles will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Vestaburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for Breckenridge, they are taking a road trip to take on Montabella at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
