Naugatuck Valley - Brass recap Oct. 9, 2012
Wolcott extended the longest winning streak in Naugatuck Valley - Brass this week by beating Seymour, 48-19. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Eagles.
Derby led the league in scoring this week after putting up 53 points on Wilby. Michael Kreiger threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 15 yards in the win.
Dillon McMahon was the best wideout in the league this week as the Red Raiders topped the Wildcats. McMahon racked up six receptions for 133 yards. Sal Frosceno helped Derby's passing attack out by catching two balls for 47 yards.
Arkeel Newsome was the most productive running back in Naugatuck Valley - Brass this week. He ran for 165 yards on 24 carries as Ansonia bested Wilby. JaiQuan McKnight also contributed to the rushing game with 63 yards on the ground.
Ansonia's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Chargers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. McKnight has thrown for 458 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Andrew Matos has 12 catches for 385 yards. Newsome leads the league in rushing with 560 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Chargers take on the Wildcats. Ansonia is currently in second, while Seymour is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when Thomas Brockett's team and Tom Lennon's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Chargers comes in having scored 196 this season, while the Wildcats have scored 161. Ansonia scored 35 points last week as it topped Holy Cross.
