The Downey Knights lost against the Edison Vikings back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Downey fell 62-51 to Edison. Downey has not had much luck with Edison recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Downey's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reuben Lewis, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Lewis hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayden Coelho, who scored 22 points.
Terrell Tek was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with six assists and three steals for Edison. Tek hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tytus Billingsly, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Downey has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Edison, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Downey and Enochs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
