The Corvian Community Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Concord Academy Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corvian Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.

Corvian Community is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 20 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Lincoln Charter on Tuesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Corvian Community saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Hoffman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Concord Academy hadn't done well against Westminster Catawba Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Concord Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Westminster Catawba Christian, sneaking past 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Noah Hatley and Zane Breinich made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Hatley pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Breinich pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Hatley scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Breinich scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Corvian Community's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Concord Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Corvian Community has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Concord Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts.
