Freedom had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the University Cougars on Friday as they made off with a 17-3 win. Considering the Patriots' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Allison Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
