Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Marietta's Third in Last Four Outings

If Starr's Mill wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Marietta, they should've done a better job of containing Leah DeWitt. The Marietta Blue Devils walked away with a 54-47 victory over the Starr's Mill Panthers on Saturday thanks in part to DeWitt, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 28 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The match was her 15th in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Wang, who posted three points and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Marietta is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Starr's Mill, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marietta will face off against Etowah at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Starr's Mill, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Starr's Mill Panthers take on the Harris County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
