The Lakota East Thunderhawks suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Princeton by a score of 59-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (55), Lakota East still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Lakota East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Celina Blount. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blount has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Asher, who scored 16 points.
Lakota East struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lakota East's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6. As for Princeton, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Lakota East will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. Fairfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Lakota East is ranked 59th). As for Princeton, they will head out on the road to take on Lakota West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakota West is on a four-game streak of home wins, Princeton a 12-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
