Ironton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past the Shelby Valley Wildcats to the tune of 63-0 on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Fighting Tigers, who have now won 11 matchups in a row dating back to last season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ironton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayden Edwards, who rushed for 43 yards and one score, and also threw for 85 yards and one TD on only five passes. Those 85 passing yards gave Edwards a new career-high. Tyler Carmon was in the mix as well, providing Ironton with two touchdowns.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 21 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Joey Weaver, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Ironton has already played their next game, a 42-3 win against Liberty Christian on the 30th. As for Shelby Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 44-7 loss against Prestonsburg on the 30th.
