Football Recap: Stratford Academy Piles Up the Points Against George Walton Academy

Stratford Academy extended their postseason success on Friday against George Walton Academy. They claimed a resounding 33-6 win over the Bulldogs. Considering the Eagles have won seven contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Stratford Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Jefferson, who rushed for 69 yards and a pair of TDs. Jefferson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making eight total tackles and defending one pass.

Stratford Academy didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited George Walton Academy to a completion percentage of just 25%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Jefferson and George Dunn, who each logged one passes deflected. Stratford Academy wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 61.5%.

Stratford Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Josh Butts, Travis Dugger, and Jett Johnston picked up one apiece. Maddox Whitehead was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks and making four total tackles.

Although George Walton Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Samuel Elvington and Aj Dillard.

The win was the fifth in a row for Stratford Academy, bringing their record up to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.4 points on average over those games. As for George Walton Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-1.

Looking ahead, Stratford Academy will take on Brookstone at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Tyler Stephens and Dillon Terry. George Walton Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
