On Tuesday, Flanagan was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 27-26 to Somerset Academy South Homestead. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Flanagan has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Flanagan saw an underclassman step up: D?Naela Myers scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and four steals. Myers is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tearra Mortimer, who scored two points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Somerset Academy South Homestead to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justice Sheppard, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and six assists. Sheppard set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Sakura Barnes was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Flanagan's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Flanagan will be playing at home against Westminster Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Westminster Christian is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Somerset Academy South Homestead won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Seminole Ridge at 7:45 p.m. on January 3rd.
