Suitland is 0-10 against the Pumas since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Suitland Rams will be staying on the road to face off against the Wise Pumas at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. Suitland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Pumas are ranked 48th).
Suitland might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 89-48 to the Jaguars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Suitland in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Wise had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They blew past Potomac 75-51. Wise has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Marcus Rustin was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Alexis Obase was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Suitland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Wise, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Suitland was taken down by the Pumas 71-43 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Suitland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
