Basketball Recap: Southern Finds Playoff Glory Versus Allegany

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southern had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 67-28 victory over the Allegany Campers. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 22 points or more this season.

Emelee Parks had an outrageously good game as she shot 75% from the field en route to 18 points along with seven boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Carly Wilt, who posted 11 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Parks wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Southern was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win (which was Southern's seventh in a row) raised their record to 22-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points over those games. As for Allegany, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-4.

Looking ahead, Southern will face off against Smithsburg on Friday. Smithsburg will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Southern surely won't give up without a fight. Allegany does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
