The Pinecrest Patriots's game  on Friday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Scotland  57-53. While losing is never fun, Pinecrest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings  (they are ranked 363rd, while Scotland is ranked 115th).
  Ava Depenbrock and  Aniya Mcgregor certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss.  Depenbrock  dropped  a double-double on 14 points and 17  rebounds, while  Mcgregor  scored 14 points along with four  steals. The team also got some help courtesy of  Zanodiya Mcnair, who  scored ten points.
 Scotland's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Alicia McClain, who  scored 11 points along with eight  assists and six  rebounds. McClain is crushing the  steal category: she's  posted at least two every time she's  taken the court this season.  Madysan Hammonds was another key contributor,  scoring 12 points along with two  steals.
 Pinecrest has  not been sharp recently as the team has  lost four of their last five contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record  this season. As for Scotland, the  win was  the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
 Pinecrest will head out on the road to  square off against  Hoke County at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Hopefully Pinecrest focused on turnovers this week  since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Scotland, they will look to defend their home court  on Tuesday against Lee County at 6:00  p.m. Hopefully Scotland focused on turnovers this week  since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
