McCallie is 8-2 against Baylor since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. After each having a week off, the pair will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th. McCallie will be looking to keep their 12-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but McCallie had no problem doing just that two weeks ago. They strolled past the Big Red with points to spare, taking the game 33-15.
It was another big night for Javon Mcmahan, who rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Mcmahan's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Jay St. Hilaire was another key contributor, throwing for 135 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was McCallie's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Zach Chari was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, Baylor faced Knoxville Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Baylor enjoyed a cozy 49-35 win over Knoxville Catholic two weeks ago. The win was nothing new for Baylor as they're now sitting on five straight.
Their wins bumped McCallie to 11-1 and Montgomery Bell Academy to 5-7.
McCallie skirted past Baylor 34-31 in their previous meeting back in September. Will McCallie repeat their success, or does Baylor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
