Even though the Williamson Warriors scored an imposing 61 points on Monday, the Athens Wildcats still came out on top. Athens escaped with a win against Williamson by the margin of a single free throw, 62-61. That's another feather in the cap for Athens, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Athens' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Mosher, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Nick Robbins was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Athens' victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Williamson, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens will take on Sayre at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sayre is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Williamson will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northeast Bradford at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st.
