The Southampton Academy Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 35-28 win over Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot. The win was some much needed relief for Southampton Academy as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Despite the defeat, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot saw an underclassman step up: Erin Maynes scored ten points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The matchup was Maynes' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Potter, who scored nine points.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory got Southampton Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Amelia Academy the next time they take the court. Southampton Academy will host Amelia Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
