The Southwind Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Arlington 47-41. Southwind has struggled against Arlington recently, as their match on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Southwind lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tashawn Hubbard. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Hubbard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Camille Sanders, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Arlington found their leader in underclassman Zaria Moss, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. The contest was Moss' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Miller, who scored ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Southwind has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Arlington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwind will take on Germantown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Germantown is ranked 252nd, while Southwind is ranked 249th). As for Arlington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Collierville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Collierville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Arlington likes a good challenge.
