Gustine's Isaiah Figueroa recorded the longest rushing play in Southern this season in his game against Bret Harte last week. Figueroa ran for 72 yards on the play and finished with 86 on the day as his team lost to the Bullfrogs.
Billy Marr and Andrew Brown provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Elliot Christian. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 62 yards.
Aaron Lerma put up the best numbers through the air as Mariposa County topped Summerville. He finished with 9 completions for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Casey Kamper was the best running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 154 yards as Ripon Christian bested the Eagles. Brown also contributed to the rushing game with 123 yards on the ground.
Brown was the best receiver in Southern this week as the Knights bested Elliot Christian. Brown tallied 2 receptions for 89 yards.
He was 9-14 with 1 interceptions.
5-foot-11 quarterback Lerma of the Grizzlies is the league leader in passing yards this season with 194. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jesus Vega. The Waterford star has 9 catches for 96 yards.
Mariposa County scaled the state rankings by moving to 526 from 749 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ryan Oliphant's team climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Bears 25-20.
