Volleyball Recap: Keys Gate's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Keys Gate's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Mater Bay Academy Rays. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Keys Gate walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 25-12.

Despite the defeat, Mater Bay Academy had strong showings from Kevin Lorenzo, who had ten kills and seven blocks, and Robert Elias Sanchez, who had 25 assists and two aces. Lorenzo is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's had at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

With the win, Keys Gate broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Mater Bay Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Keys Gate will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Colonial Christian at 4:00 p.m. on April 1st. As for Mater Bay Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Archbishop Carroll on the 19th.
