The Girard Yellowjackets stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Iroquois on the road to the tune of 77-42. Winning may never get old, but Girard sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kellen Burroughs, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds. Burroughs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Javion Lucas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Girard's victory was their 13th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Iroquois, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Girard on the road again on Friday and play against North East at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. North East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Girard is ranked 96th). As for Iroquois, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Erie First Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. Erie First Christian Academy has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
