Rockmart has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will take on the Gordon Central Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Rockmart has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 334 points over their last four games.
Even though Heard County scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, Rockmart still came out on top. Rockmart strolled past Heard County with points to spare, taking the game 79-63.
Rockmart's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Treylin Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Rockmart's points. Samuel Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Gordon Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Southeast Whitfield County 75-47 on the road. Given Gordon Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Southeast Whitfield County is ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rockmart's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.5 points per game. As for Gordon Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Rockmart beat Gordon Central 57-47 in their previous matchup back in January. Does Rockmart have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gordon Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
