Shelter Island is 1-9 against the Knights since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Shelter Island Islanders will head out on the road to square off against the Smithtown Christian Knights at 6:30 p.m. Shelter Island will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 785th, while the Knights are ranked 311th).
Back in January, Shelter Island took a serious blow against the Knights, falling 74-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shelter Island in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost eight in a row.
Shelter Island's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Smithtown Christian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Shelter Island was taken down by the Knights 74-40 in their previous meeting back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Shelter Island was down 47-17.
