The Eaglecrest Raptors were the 52-23 winner over the Vista PEAK Prep Bison when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Eaglecrest fell 53-41 to Vista PEAK Prep on Thursday. Eaglecrest has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Several Raptors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shyann Farbes, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Farbes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Danivea Hughes, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eaglecrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista PEAK Prep only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Vista PEAK Prep can attribute much of their success to Eianna Jackson, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. Amirah Pena was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Eaglecrest's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Vista PEAK Prep, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eaglecrest will take on Smoky Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Smoky Hill is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Vista PEAK Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rangeview at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
