Gridley and Las Plumas are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Gridley Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gridley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Las Plumas likes a good challenge.
Gridley can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They really took it to Oroville for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-29 victory on the road. Given Gridley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Oroville is ranked 1050th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gridley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bikram Kullar, who scored eight points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kiko Castillo was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Las Plumas entered their tilt with Orland with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Las Plumas took down Orland 66-50 on Tuesday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Las Plumas did.
Las Plumas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Laster out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Laster scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of T.J. Thompson, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds.
Gridley's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Las Plumas, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Gridley skirted past Las Plumas 63-60 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Does Gridley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Las Plumas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
