The Moorpark Musketeers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Camarillo Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Moorpark is not getting complacent, as they comes into the match much higher ranked than Camarillo in California (Moorpark is ranked 119th, while Camarillo is ranked 250th).
Moorpark unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They took a 36-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thousand Oaks.
The losing side was boosted by Luke Cochran, who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Moorpark's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Nicholas Andrade and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Camarillo was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They strolled past Oak Park with points to spare, taking the game 23-6.
Camarillo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathaniel Madrigal, who rushed for 148 yards. Jacson Cutting was another key contributor, picking up 68 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Camarillo's victory bumped their season record to 4-4 while Moorpark's defeat dropped theirs to 7-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Moorpark has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 174.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Camarillo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 160 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Moorpark was taken down by Camarillo 44-10 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Moorpark have more luck at home instead of on the road?
