The Pinecrest Academy Paladins pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Friendship Christian by a score of 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Pinecrest Academy has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Pinecrest Academy still got an impressive performance from Johnny Lynch, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Lynch hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Peter Birozes was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Pinecrest Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Pinecrest Academy and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Friendship Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinecrest Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monsignor Donovan Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Friendship Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Georgia Force Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
