The Milan Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They suffered a tough 57-36 loss at the hands of South Shelby. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Milan has suffered since November 30, 2023.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ahmet Niasse, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Niasse hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Jared Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Milan dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for South Shelby, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milan will take on Grundy County/Newtown-Harris at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Grundy County/Newtown-Harris focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday. As for South Shelby, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Monroe City at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
