The Palmer Ridge Bears's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Heritage Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. One thing working in Palmer Ridge's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last ten games.
With a playoff game on the line, Palmer Ridge rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-6 win over Denver South at home. The result was nothing new for Palmer Ridge, who have now won ten games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palmer Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than James "jimmer" Weir, who picked up 131 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Weir was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 64 yards. Gabe Klein was another key contributor, rushing for 130 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Heritage earned a 31-18 win over Golden on Saturday.
Heritage's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kurt Rossner, who threw for 170 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes, and Jett Balika, who rushed for 79 yards and three touchdowns.
Heritage's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Nick Long was especially locked on to Golden's QB and sacked him twice.
Palmer Ridge has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-2 Lewis-Palmer and 9-2 Montrose (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Heritage, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Palmer Ridge commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.7 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
