The Eastern Comets had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Elwood at home to the tune of 55-0. The result was nothing new for Eastern, who have now won seven games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Eastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Eagle, who rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.5 yards per carry. Eagle is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braylen Word, who picked up 164 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Eastern's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Elwood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Eastern will be playing in front of their home fans against Tipton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tipton is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Elwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
