Pine Lake Prep's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alec Brown, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave Brown a new career-high. Grant Ingram was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Charter). They blew past Bradford Prep 37-0 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won six in a row.
Evan Myers made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. He has been hot recently, having also posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Nate Rollins was a standout: he got on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, six runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Justin Horne, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs.
Lincoln Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .782. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pine Lake Prep's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Charter, their record now sits at 9-1.
Both Pine Lake Prep and Lincoln Charter just can't seem to miss. Pine Lake Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pine Lake Prep couldn't quite get it done against Lincoln Charter when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can Pine Lake Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
