2A District 6 recap Oct. 3, 2012
First Baptist Academy extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 6 this week by beating Neumann, 21-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Moore Haven moved up to 327 from 362 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 42-6 win over Southwest Florida Christian helped the Terriers improve their standing.
St. Stephen's Episcopal's dynamic duo of Bobby Harrison and Cam Tally proved tough for Shorecrest Prep to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Harrison threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns and Tally had 111 yards receiving. Peter Smith helped St. Stephen's Episcopal's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
Jonah Bueltel was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 151 yards as First Baptist Academy fell to the Chargers. Corey Todd also contributed to the rushing game with 118 yards on the ground.
On the ground, Billy Sparacio's team's Bueltel has rushed for 683 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ryan O?rourke. The Neumann star has 13 catches for 344 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Community School of Naples and the Kings face off next week. Drew Tomaini has thrown for 685 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Whit Wiggins has terrorized opposing QBs to the tune of five sacks.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Southwest Florida Christian takes on the Seahawks. Mark Ackerman's team is in fifth place, while Community School of Naples is in fourth place.
Moore Haven led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Kings. BRONSON BASS threw for 86 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
