The Elkhart Wildcats lost against the Stanton County Trojans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Elkhart lost to Stanton County on the road by a decisive 52-33 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elkhart in their matchups with Stanton County: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madyson Brillhart, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Scott, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Stanton County found their leader in underclassman Avery Scott, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Scott is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kynzi Fehringer, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Elkhart now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Stanton County, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Elkhart will face off against Deerfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Deerfield is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Stanton County on the road again on Thursday and play against Lakin at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th.
