Maryknoll faced Mid-Pacific Institute in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans blew past the Owls 16-6. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Sheyzhelle Iokia, who fired off three home runs and six RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Abad, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs.

Maryknoll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive games.

Maryknoll pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Mid-Pacific Institute, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
