Baseball Recap: Marshall Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Marshall ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Western Panthers. 11 seems to be a good number for the Redhawks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Max Gillum was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Stealy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Marshall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted an OBP of .375.

Marshall has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Western, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coming up, Marshall will challenge Fowlerville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Western, they will face off against Michigan Center at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
