The Animo Venice Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 25 points or more this season. They took their game on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 94-38 win over New Designs Watts. The win was just what Animo Venice needed coming off of a 70-45 defeat in their prior matchup.
Elliot Smith was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 50 points and 30 rebounds. The match was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Maximo, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists.
The win got Animo Venice back to even at 9-9. As for New Designs Watts, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Animo Venice will challenge Burton at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for New Designs Watts, they will head out on the road to face off against Animo Watts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Jaydin Smith and Denim Portis.
