The Opp Bobcats and the McKenzie Tigers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Opp is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Last Saturday, Opp lost to Elba at home by a decisive 58-44 margin.
Despite the loss, Opp got a solid performance out of Dorian Harris, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Harris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Colby Ballard, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Even though McKenzie has not done well against Red Level recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. McKenzie managed a 69-63 victory over Red Level. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
McKenzie relied on the efforts of Jaylen Mcmillian, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Jay Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. Quay Jackson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Opp's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-19. As for McKenzie, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.
Opp strolled past McKenzie in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 70-55. Will Opp repeat their success, or does McKenzie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
