Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Sheldon's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

Sheldon took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Pleasant Grove, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Huskies' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 2-0 shutout on Monday. The Huskies were shut out 6-0 the last time they took on the Eagles, so the Huskies were just returning the favor.

Not much got past Micah Kennedy, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Pleasant Grove off the board.

At the plate, Sheldon's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nicole Camacho-Vasquez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Sheldon is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sheldon will take on Elk Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 3, the Thundering Herd 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Pleasant Grove, they will square off against Laguna Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
