Meanwhile, Cherry put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past South Ridge, posting a 105-36 win on the road. Given Cherry's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while South Ridge is ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cherry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Asuma led the charge by scoring 19 points along with seven assists and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Noah Sundquist, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Moose Lake/Willow River's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-0. As for Cherry, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
