Baseball Recap: Kimball Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lincoln

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kimball). They never let the Lincoln Tigers get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on five straight.

Joel Renteria made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kimball let William Carrigan and Emiliano Maldonado run wild. Carrigan scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4, while Maldonado scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, Carrigan posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Campos, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Kimball always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Kimball's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kimball will head out to square off against Conrad at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kimball will need to watch out since Conrad has now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Lincoln, they will take on Carter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
