Wylie has gone a perfect 4-0 against Del Valle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Conquistadores. Wylie will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Wylie is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Plainview.
Brady Gay looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Wylie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Garrett, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another was Hudson Tuley, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Del Valle never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Andress. The Conquistadores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
ISAIAH GONZALEZ made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. GONZALEZ was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, ISAAC PADILLA and DANIEL JUAREZ did most of the damage at the plate: PADILLA went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while JUAREZ went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave JUAREZ a new career-high. BRYAN GARCIA was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Del Valle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Wylie's win bumped their record up to 21-5-1. As for Del Valle, their victory bumped their record up to 20-10.
Del Valle's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wylie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. It's a different story for Del Valle, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Wylie's hitters?
Wylie beat Del Valle 6-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Conquistadores turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
