Athens Academy extended the longest winning streak in A Region 8 this week by beating Pinecrest Academy, 27-7. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Athens Christian moved up to 318 from 359 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles were able to make the jump by topping Hebron Christian Academy 41-14.
George Walton Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hunter Rice has thrown for 166 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Casey Shubert has six catches for 96 yards. Stanley Williams leads the league in rushing with 731 yards.
A big matchup in A Region 8 this week will be when Athens Academy takes on Commerce. Michael Gunn's team is currently in first, while the Tigers are in sixth.
Lakeview Academy took down Cross Keys 44-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
