On Friday, Lyons-Decatur Northeast suffered a tough 50-29 defeat at the hands of Elgin/Pope John. While losing is never fun, Lyons-Decatur Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Elgin/Pope John is ranked 106th).
Lyons-Decatur Northeast's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Talan Mock, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Eyan Tuttle, who scored six points.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Elgin/Pope John, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast and Pender will face off on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
