Mercer is 3-0 against Maplewood since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Mercer Mustangs will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Maplewood Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Mercer is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Mercer scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Commodore Perry 81-45 on the road. Given Mercer's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Commodore Perry is ranked 683rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Maplewood, who are still winless after their fourth match. They were the victim of a tough 58-38 defeat at the hands of Iroquois on Tuesday.
Mercer's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Maplewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything went Mercer's way against Maplewood in their previous matchup back in January of 2021 as Mercer made off with a 60-36 win. Does Mercer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Maplewood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
